Humboldt County in Polaroids

Humboldt County in Polaroids

During the time I spent in Humboldt, I learned how to shoot polaroid and haven't stopped since.  I was looking for something that felt real and lucid at the same time.  A couple years before I was gifted a instamax and got really into it but the dreamy feeling was missing.  Fate brought me to my SX-70 from another artist on instagram.  His work is really cool and it was a great deal for it (pre covid) and honestly I was happy to be getting it from another artist.  When it first came it was super foreign to me and even opening it seemed like it required fragility.

Eventually I learned the ropes of using the SX-70 and was going out all the time.  The energy of the forest and the isolated beaches worked well with dreamy landscape shots and wonderous thoughts of what really existed in the forest.  I learned more about accessories and bought the tripod mount and extended shutter release and have gotten some really great focused shots using Polaroids yellow film.

Humboldt is a really special place that opens itself to people.  You can be youself, discover yourself, re discover self and anything in between.  The land and people have a lack of judgment that is really comforting in a world where you feel someone's always watching or has an opinion.  During my time I was able to find a lot of strength and realizing who I am and my love for art and the need to only do that.  I'll be posting about Humboldt again soon!  Check below for more photos and if there's something not in the store you like, just ask and it can be printed for you!  Have a great day or night
